Bollywood’s zing babe, Preity Zinta has found a new best buddy on her Unforgettable tour with the Bachchans, and she is none other than Jaya Bachchan. Jaya Bachchan is accompanying the whole cast and crew of The Unforgettable tour which includes her hubby Amitabh, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai and Preity Zinta loves the whole Bachchan parivaar. She says, “I knew I’d be comfortable with Amitji, Ash and Abhishek. I’ve always gotten along with them. I did the film The Last Lear with Amitji. And we had a blast.” “But my favorite is Jaya aunty. We bonded earlier during Kal Ho Naa Ho. At that that we had gotten really close. Now it’s like old times again. Jaya Aunty is my favorite member of the Bachchan family. We get along so well,” she added. The awesome twosome rush off to shopping whenever they get free time, “Just the two of us. We love it!” adds Preity.

These leading ladies, who ruled the box-office in the late ‘90s and also earlier in this decade, hardly have any films to talk about now. On the other hand, youngsters like Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut have raced way ahead of them. SHILPA SHETTY Films in hand: The Man and an item song in Dostana Taran Adarsh: Shilpa has been around for a long time and an actress's career is not as long as that of an actor. Shilpa can only look fit opposite actors like Sunny or Sanjay Dutt or Govinda, who also want to work with the younger actresses now. For instance, Govinda wants to work with actresses like Lara Dutta or Hansika Motwani. All said and done, Shilpa definitely has an edge as she has maintained herself very well. Vikas Mohan: Shilpa's career was over long back. Her victory in Big Brother extended her career for a couple of years, courtesy the media. However, her international standing did not help her get films in Bollywood. Her career was already over when she started doing item numbers. PREITY ZINTA Films in hand: Har Pal, Heaven on Earth and Heroes Taran Adarsh: Preity has been around for a long time. The audience prefers watching Deepika, Kareena or Katrina rather than watching Rani or Preity. The fact of the matter is that even if one is very talented, after a certain age, you have to move out. also she looks older then what she is .. Vikas Mohan: Preity has been looking her age for some time now. She has also become very selective and is not doing many films. The fact that she is doing a non-commercial film with Deepa Mehta says a lot. AISHWARYA RAI Films in hand: Mani Ratnam's next, Robot, Pink Panther2, The Taj, Benazir,Dhun Taran Adarsh: Aishwarya has tremendous international appeal and that works in her favour. She is probably the only actress who can decide on which film she wants to do and which she does not. She enjoys the success which not even Madhuri Dixit enjoyed at the peak of her career. Probably Zeenat Aman would have been in the same situation if she had been an actress in today's times. Vikas Mohan: Aishwarya Rai is far from finished. She is one actress who inspite of being married is still very popular. Her career will stretch for at least 2-3 years.She is charging 4-6cr per film ,2-3cr for stage shows &...a wopping 7cr for commercials/endorsements...which is higher than many male stars also. RANI MUKERJI Films in hand: Yash Chopra's next to be directed by Anurag Singh Taran Adarsh: Rani, like Preity, has been around for a long time. Rani has also had a series of flops like Baabul, Laaga Chunri Mein Daag, Saawariya, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic barring Tara Rum Pum, which was an average grosser. Recently Rani was also dropped from many commercials & she is not doing any stage shows also. Vikas Mohan: Rani has selected all the wrong films. The fact that she has limited herself to a single banner (YRF) also has a negative effect her career graph. The films that she has done recently have been women-centric and when they don't work, it badly reflects on her career graph. For example, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic flopped but no one will blame Saif for it, as Rani was the central character. SUSHMITA SEN Films in hand: Dulha Mil Gaya, Do Knot Disturb, Rani Laxmibai Taran Adarsh: She is a good actress but somehow her career has taken a backseat. I don’t understand why? She is a fine actress and a good looker but whether she is serious about her career or not, I don't know. Also her turning producer doesn't say much about her acting career. Vikas Mohan: I don't think she is in the race at all. You need to have dedication like Katrina to succeed, which Sushmita lacks.

THE GRAPEVINE is buzzing with rumours that Preity is planning to bid adieu to Bollywood because beau Ness’s mum isn’t too excited having an actress for a daughter-in-law. The blunt and outspoken Maureen has often made her dislike for Preity public going to the extent of saying, “As long as Ness doesn’t get a monkey, donkey or a zebra home, I’m fine with his choice.” Preity who is known to be equally fiery and blunt didn’t react to Maureen’s comments but in fact is now trying her best to win Maureen’s affections. Off-late she has been trying to market herself as businesswoman and not as an actress. Her purchasing a cricket team along with Ness and a few other businessmen goes to prove that. She has also started her own production house and produced a music video promoting her cricket team. Strangely enough, Preity doesn’t star in this music video. The bubbly actress doesn’t feature in any of the films of her favourite filmmakers YashRaj Films and Karan Johar. Her last film was the 2007 disaster Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, wherein she played the typical glam doll. But her forthcoming film The Last Lear alongside Amitabh Bachchan has her dressed in the whole nine yards. In fact, Preity has no commercial films up for release and has only been signing off-beat films. Preity’s reason for this, “I have been in the industry for too long and it’s time for me to get selective and try out different kind of roles. I am deliberately not signing any and every film that I’ve been offered.” While she tries her best to sound convincing, a source close to the actress reveals that Preity is slowly planning to bid adieu to films. A close friend of Preity reveals, “Preity is very serious about Ness and she thinks this is the right time to settle down. Ness is a family guy and will never go against his mom. Maureen likes Preity as a person but she is uncomfortable with having an actress as a daughter-in-law! So, Preity is gradually moving out of Bollywood.” The otherwise party hearty Preity once a regular feature at most Bollywood parties now no longer parties with her clique of buddies, including Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Bobby Deol and Shah Rukh Khan. She rather chooses to attend business meetings and charity events. Last month she attended the CN Wadia cup at the racecourse dressed subtly, sticking close to Ness’s family especially his niece. Preity is also the brand ambassador and the face of Go Air Airways which is handled by Ness’s older brother Jeh Wadia. Our source reveals, “Preity is planning to settle down with long time love Ness and she knows that his family and especially his mum Maureen aren’t too glad about her filmy background. She has realised that her acting career is done with as there are too many younger and prettier actresses in Bollywood right now. She knows that being Mrs. Wadia at this point of time would do her more good than being an actress. Hence she has changed herself so that she can fit into the image of a good bahu.” Once among the top crop of actress Preity has now lost her position to younger rivals such as Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and now Deepika Padukone. Maybe she’s realised that it’s better to quit while she’s still famous rather than fade into oblivion. Aiming to become a businesswoman ala Maureen Wadia style is a good option.
